Karma yoga

What is karma yoga in the Bhagavad Gita?

במילים פשוטות

Karma yoga is the path of action: ordinary work, done as an offering, without clutching the reward.

It is the Gita's answer to people who cannot leave the world to meditate — which is most of us.

התורה העתיקה

Better is one's own duty, though imperfectly done, than the duty of another well performed.
פרפרזהBhagavad Gita 3.35, paraphrased from standard translations

Wording here is a paraphrase drawn from several English translations rather than a single authoritative rendering.

מה זה אומר היום?

The modern version of Arjuna's crisis is comparison. We abandon our own imperfect work because someone else's looks cleaner.

Karma yoga returns dignity to the unglamorous task in front of you: the shift, the patient, the child, the spreadsheet. Done attentively and offered outward, it counts as a spiritual practice.

שאלות נפוצות

Do I need to be religious to practise karma yoga?
The Gita frames the offering devotionally, but the structure — full effort, released outcome, work as service — is practised widely by non-religious readers.
